Beginning

We are all time travelers moving forward each second into the future. What will that future hold? What will occur at the the end of the journey? What will we face as we travel into the future and how will it affect our journey? An old poem says,

But to every mind there openeth,
A way, and way, and away,
A high soul climbs the highway,
And the low soul gropes the low,
And in between on the misty flats,
The rest drift to and fro.

But to every man there openeth,
A high way and a low,
And every mind decideth,
The way his soul shall go.

One ship sails East,
And another West,
By the self-same winds that blow,
'Tis the set of the sails
And not the gales,
That tells the way we go.

Like the winds of the sea
Are the waves of time,
As we journey along through life,
'Tis the set of the soul,
That determines the goal,
And not the calm or the strife.

"Tis the set of the soul..." This is our mind set, the focus of our heart. The Bible is where my soul is set. Through the Bible, I have seen who God is, what He requires of us and what He desires for us. It is where I gain insight, wisdom and direction for all of life. In this blog "Essential Matters" I will share biblical truths to help us set our souls as we travel in time towards our goal no matter the calm or the strife.
